About Luke Behrmann

Luke Behrmann, Managing Director of Behrmann Bookmaking Pty Ltd, is one of Australia's largest and most successful on course bookmakers.

Luke Behrmann commenced his bookmaking career as NSW’s youngest bookmaker in December 1999, at the age of 25. Over the past six and a half years, Luke has successfully grown his bookmaking business from a single stand at Wyong provincial races, to fielding at Metropolitan STC and AJC meetings.

In March 2001, Luke was promoted to the Sydney Rails in time for the Golden Slipper and promoted to Interstate rails in July 2003. Luke is currently ranked as the second largest holder in NSW and amongst the top six horse-racing bookmakers in Australia. 

Over the past few years, Luke observed the rapid growth in online sports betting.Predicting the sports betting industry would continue to explode over the coming years, Luke transformed his bookmaking business into a private company and spent six-months researching and developing his sports betting business model.
 
On September 6th 2006, Minister for Gaming and Racing, Grant Mc Bride approved Behrmann Bookmaking Pty Ltd, trading as www.racingodds.com.au to conduct internet sports betting and feature (futures). Racingodds.com.au was the fifth NSW government accredited internet sports betting website in NSW. By the first official day of operations, Racing Odds had written significant bets for the first week of the NRL and AFL finals series.
 

A second-generation family bookmaker, Luke learnt his talent from both his fathers 30 years bookmaking experience and working for Bill Hurley prior to being licensed.

Luke is actively involved in the industry as a Director of NSW Bookmakers Cooperative, the body which oversees the industry in NSW. Luke hopes to operate Racing Odds on an even larger and more client focused basis to better compete in the ever changing national sports betting market place.
